A?C problems,,,help

with the ignition on (car running or just the switch on), the fan control switch works on low-medium1-medium2-but not high, and when you turn the the fan to off, it blows on low speed. .............Now the whole system will turn off if you put it on off using the A/C- heater wheel. Now If you turn the key to acc the fan motor only works on high speed, when you swich it over to low-medium1-medium2 it just shuts off......i put a new relay on there but still nothing,,,and i took the fan speed selector apart and cleaned it, but still nothing. All my wires look ok from the fusebox to the controls to the fan,,,,,,??im stumped
does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 76, or has anyone had this problem before,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I'm not familiar with the later AC systems but maybe they are similar to the older ones.
Is there a fuse holder located near the horn relay under the hood?
If so, that could be the culprit. If not, check all your fuses in the fuse box. If all are good, try to follow the large (probably orange or red) wire from the blower relay back until you find a fuse or link. What I'm trying to find is the power (and fuse) for the hi speed blower. Most times it's a seperate circuit from the other speeds.
