, but I've been using Delo 400 CJ4 rated 15-40 plus 4 oz. of Red Line EOS in my '67 327/350 (and my wifes '79 Camaro 305) for a few years now FWIW. Problem now is they are "updating" to a CK4 oil now meaning less zinc. I bought the last 5 gallons on the shelf of the Delo 400 synthetic 5w-40 which is also CJ4 rated. Specs say 1200ppm for that stuff. And we all know synthetic is just a marketing term, right? I think Amsoil and Red Line are the only "real" synthetics made in the lab.

Royal Purple as 63 Mako states! I believe Castrol EDGE, NOT Syntec, may be a PAO ESTER group IV. Penzoil Platinum is made from Natural gas as well.

Mobil 1 0W-40 European Formula and Mobil 1 5W-50 Porsche Specified (if you can find it) are Pao Ester derived synthetics and the ONLY Mobil 1 "synthetics" that are a true synthetic. As stated earlier, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc require a PAO Ester derived oil for their engines which is the only reason Mobil 1 makes these weights and uses a different formulation than the highly refined group III dino oils used for the other weights and calls them synthetics in the USA only.....

Mobil 1 0W-40 Euro Formula is an outstanding bargain and has 1000/1100 ZDDP additive. Every piece of machinery that I own that has a gas engine uses this oil...every one of them....including my 10C6Z06 which GM specifies Mobil 1 5W-30...NOPE!

I started running the Pennzoil Platinum in my daily drivers. Still use Amzoil Z-rod in the 63.
