I have the chance to scoop up a low mile set of Edelbrock RPM heads with angle plugs for cheap. I already have a rebuilt 350, mild cam, Edelbrock RPM intake and am swapping out my block hugger headers for Flowtech long tubes.
My question is will the angle plugs work with these headers?
As the story goes, moving the sparkplug towards the center of the chamber and closer to the exhaust valve makes more power. Supposedly. But, its not without drawbacks. As the electrode is angled differently than stock, so too is the plug terminal. Now, you have a clearance issue on the headers that was not an issue before. H-m-m-m-m-m.
There is a term used when taking a ballpeen hammer to headers to get them to clear the plugs. I hear more dipple stories with angled plug heads than straight plug.
Just for the heck of it, go to Summits web site. Enter: headers, SBC, yr, etc. Click on those Flowtechs and see if it says anything about clears angled plug heads. IDK
I have also learned that with some aluminum heads and some header combos that you might as well throw away your ratchet. I have to use a sparkplug socket and put a boxend wrench on the end of the socket. No ratchet / no extensions will work.
