Default '72 seat belt/shoulder harness conversion

My '72 vert has the mount on the tops of the rear fender liners....and so to do shoulder harnesses trick is, I know of posts here that said using F body? REAR belts/harnesses is the way to go, but I dunno the years that will fit, and to be more specific if necessary....

anyone?

The ones I installed came out of a 1999 F-body. They were the rear seat belts

I cut away the cover

The old set

Link to a set on ebay that look the same as the ones I used

Any shoulder belts that the retractor lays flat then locks when in that orientation should work. I used a set of belts out of a 2000 Firebird. Bought them on fleabay. The rear belts were worn and I didn't use them so I had some 3/4 inch SS l-brackets laying around in the garage so I used them to position the Firebirds front seat belt retractors up (proper orientation for the inertia lock to work) and they've worked great ever since.
The only problem doing this is if you want them to go through the seat you'll have to carefully disassemble/reassemble the buckle without damage to get it off so to allow the webbing to go though the seat opening.
Another thing to consider if going through the seat is there were two different widths of belts over the years. Measure your seat-back opening before looking for belts if you plan on going through the seat.

I still don't have mine going through the seat. It's not bad at all you just have to make sure it doesn't get caught in the door.

I just finished adding shoulder belts to my 71 convertible. I went thru the seats and its a major pain in the butt. You have to peel back the seat cover to install a inner bracket on the frame and change the front trim. A major pain to do without damaging the seat covers.

I used the rear seatbelts out of a 2001 firebird. Work great. I have the 80-82 seat in my 69 so I just go around. No problem at all.
