81 C3 just started backfiring ...
Hello,
Recently bought my C3 a few weeks ago, close to a month now, and it has been running fine. Only thing I have done to the C3 is clean up and vacuum some of the interior, washed the windows, and replaced the battery, very basic stuff. The backfires happened after the last two times I took her out and I turned off the engine; loud backfires. After the first backfire, I happened to notice that when I put it in park or neutral, the RPMs rev up between 4 to 5k.
I'm hoping that this is a bad fuel problem, or that water possibly got into the fuel, because it also rained recently for the first time since owning the vette. I noticed this started happening after it rained, but I have also owned it for a short amount of time so I don't want to jump to just one conclusion.
Any suggestions or past experiences dealing with this would be greatly appreciated.
