Default Test turn switch

What is the easiest way to test turn signal switch....check ohms at the harmonica connector(disconnected)?

Also, when you pull turn signal lever towards you to activate high beams is the switch supposed to make a "click" and leave the lights on high?

Mine doesn't click and only intermittently will it make the high beams come on. I can see a piece of chipped plastic where the lever connects to the switch....need replacement? (could this also be why my turn signals don't work...not even a solid green lamp appears on dash.
Please help!!

'77 L82, loaded except cruise control

I can't claim to be a turn signal guru, but I have replaced the high-beam dimmer switch.

The '77-'78 switch is different, but appears similar to my '80. There is a lever attached to the turn signal switch that actuates the remotely located dimmer switch, further back on the steering column.

It's not the easiest thing to replace, I had to drop my column, but it is fairly straightforward. There is an adjustment (you can see the slotted mounting holes in the picture of the switch), so that may be all you need. Perhaps if the actuating rod is the problem (broken at the turn signal switch), you can test that function with a pair of pliers.

Good luck with the turn signal! My problem, thankfully, turned out to be a flasher unit, not the switch. It's worth trying. I used this LED flasher. be sure to get the reversing base. I needed it.

Thanks Bikespace...that's a good start for me. I just discovered that rod going down the column last night...now I know what it's for.
