I know I asked this about a year ago but I'm finally getting to the point of pulling the windshield. I thought that someone posted a step/step procedure to doing this? I don't care about the old windshield since I'm going to install a new one but I don't want to damage the dash pad.
So anyone have the steps?
Thanks,
Gary
Gary, Of course you will have to remove the mouldings. Then cut straight down with a Stanley knife on the extra sealer that protrudes from the side of the glass. Removing this extra sealer will let the windshield knife go through the sealer much easier. You will need a windshield knife with a 90 degree blade and a pull handle. Work it under the center at the top and pull to the side. If you keep the blade up against the glass it may pull easier. At the bottom depending on how far the sealer is up from the bottom edge you may need piano wire to slice the sealer. Good Luck, Craig :chevy
That is correct. I would suggest you get a trim removal tool and a windshield knife. You can get both of these items from your local snap on man for 35 bucks. You will need a cable type cutter for the bottom, or make a long knife out of a piece of thin steel strapping. It's really quite easy to do without hurting the dash.
Gary, Lisle Co. makes these tools also and is carried by all the chain parts stores. If they don't have them I'm sure they could order them for you. Craig
