I could debate almost everything you spewed out, but the statement above is where I will limit my comment. The "global economy" is an idea that works well for the rest of the world, but has punished America. Lots of low paid Chinese get jobs while we have people living on the streets. Just because we have a global economy does not mean its what is right for us.

And secondly, the accusation that caring about America first over the rest of the world is a "Neanderthal" belief really confuses me coming from an American who benefits from capitalism versus communism. I fail to understand why you see it the way you do, but I guess it works for you.

End..no further comments pending.

Regarding OP original thread, I think you may have just had a poorly prepared set of headers. Hot coatings do work if done properly. Maybe your particular headers were made on a bad day??

I went with uncoated Stainless headers from StainlessWorks in Cleveland. They are $1000, but they are top quality and other than a brown tint, are just like new, 10,000 miles later. And, they are made in USA.. I helped keep a few American workers employed.

Had I known they were crap, I wouldn't have bought them. I figured, "they're owned by Holley, who owns Hooker Headers; this is probably their cheap brand to compete with the Chinese junk..."

After I get everything else done the FlowTechs are getting ditched for some Stan's Tri-Ys...

I should've known that $250 headers were just too cheap. I can't help but feel like I should've just bought the mild steel version and then sent them to Jet Coat...

UGH!

This is the ones I have had on my 1982 (no ground clearance for long tubes) for the last two years. Have about 6000 miles on them and they still look good. I know they are not high end by any means, but they work and do not rust. Had some Stainless high end on it first but had no ground clearance (less than 2 inches from ground to collector). I was wanting to get the car back on the road so a bought the ones below.

That is a heck of deal for shorty type headers! They definitely are not full length long tubes but for most would get the job done!

As I stated in post #9, these XS-power 1 7/8 inch LTH headers are a deal as well...I just measured underneath my 78 and the primaries sit almost exactly 1 inch lower than the oil pan which is pretty terrific for ground clearance for a big tube/big collector SBC LTH header or any LTH header: Click on the amazon link...

Amazon Amazon

I believe that these are American manufactured, at least assembled here, and I paid a local guy to ceramic coat them for $200 inside and out...everybody wins.....

I just finished my first driving season with them and they still look brand new and based on the quality of the Stainless metal uncoated and the welds, these headers will be my last set for this motor, easily.........Worth the $500 price all in with the ceramic coating.............

My Hedmann headers were Jet-Hot coated in/out back around 2000. I still use them todya. They have a lot of the small 'rust' burrs visible on the exterior surface down on the lower pipes near the road. They haven't started leaking yet.

I may buy a set of the HTC Hedmann's (68300) someday when mine finally start to leak.

I never expected to get 17 years from a set of $400 headers. Perhaps will go with Stainless Works 5/8" tube headers next.

I have reconsidered wrapping my headers. After reading some of the responses here.

I just sent a new set of Hookers out for the ceramic coating. Sent them to Jet-Hot.

I just did a quick search and found the Hedman 68306 (essentially the 68300 header with HTC coating inside/outside) for sale for $400 with free shipping. I searched using google "Hedman 68306". That is a smoking good deal. Streetsideauto.com is the site.

I searched for the Hedman 68308 Elite headers (heavier gauge) and found them for $419 with free shipping from Jeg's. Looks like some deep cost cutting this holiday season!

Almost all the SBC headers are 1 5/8 inch primaries. The XSPower I referenced above are 1 7/8inch (they say 2 inch) primaries and 4 inch collector. I wanted at least a 1 3/4 inch primary for my motor with AFR heads and roller cam. The hedman's are 1 5/8 inch primaries with 3 inch collector. The XS power with these specs AND stainless steel before I ceramic coated mine are a tremendous deal....

I took it as both. I also took the reference of someone saying “ ‘murica “ as a derisive term pointed towards a group of Americans based on geography and political affiliation and more appropriate for the Off Topic section. I’m not surprised the thread is headed for more political argument.

The other political comments belong there as well.

The thread’s Opening Post belongs in the Transaction Feedback area.

So, I’m not sure where this thread belongs, but my guess is, it’s not C3 Tech.

If the OP wants to record his dissatisfaction with his purchase, he can start another thread in Transaction Feedback.

If people want to debate US vs China, this is routinely addressed in OT/PR & C.

People are free to debate headers in another thread here if they stay on topic.
