I haven't used that kind of stuff in years. Your better off removing the carb and do a thorough cleaning by letting it sit in a solvent over night, blow out passages with compressed air and reassemble.

For carburetors, do what resdoggie says. For injectors, I just don't see how that snake oil diluted in a tankful of gasoline will "clean" fuel injectors. Again, I would remove them, inspect and clean them in an ultrasonic bath or similar method.

Use a Top Tier gasoline. Leave that stuff on the shelf.

This is the only fuel additive I use, only because the only fuel that's available within reasonable driving distance is all E10.

They may not have "Top Tier" rated gasoline in Romania, but buying a high quality gas from a station that moves a good volume should produce the best results. Changing the filter at least annually should also help. Apparently there is a greater perception of poor fuel quality in Romania that in other parts of the EU.

Fuel system cleaners can have some preventive value in vehicles with electronic fuel injection, but will probably have little value in a typical carbureted engine. If the octane rating is low or varies frequently, the use of an octane booster can be useful to prevent preignition in the engine.

Good luck... GUSTO

Warco Octane Booster or Rislone Super Concentrated Octane Booster are two products that you may find in Romania and aide in boosting or stabilizing to a degree the octane rating of your petrol.

By the way, welcome to the Corvette Forum. There can't be too many Corvettes like yours in Romania.

What good does pouring it down the carb while running do? It doesn't go through the carbs passages or jets doing it that way. Your really just pouring it into the intake.

I'm about to rebuild my carb and I'm going to soak in in this:

Then blow out all the passages with compressed air.

That is just nonsense. If its not that exact product available, there will be a European equivalent readily available.

what kind of responses are you waiting for? Lacquer thinner is an excellent solvent for cleaning carbs off the car or on. it dissolves the gasoline residue

It's a controversial thing to do in some people's opinion.

I wouldn't put anything (lacquer thinner) in my gas tank that is not designed to be there. On the back of the can, does it say safe for rubber fuel lines? Safe for the gas tank sock? Safe for the fuel filter? Safe for needle valves & seat? I think not.

its Funny, it does NOT say any of that on the STP bottle either or on the Motor Medic, or any other brand. ...hmmm guess they will ruin your engine too.. .......maybe you should look up components of Laquer thinner and then these shelf brand cleaners... .. Laquer thinner does no harm rubber lines or seals in painting equipment why would it harm a rubber FUEL line made to withstand gasoline and ETHANOL ? unless you still have your 45 year old fuel lines? That seems SAFE! You don t have to use what he recommended, but at least try to have some knowledge of the product before you trash his idea..
