Default TKO 600 neutral safety switch

Pulled the engine and transmission out the '79 today. Managed to damage the neutral safety switch on my TKO 600 in the process. I seem to recall hearing somewhere a lot of the TKO parts are available through Ford. Does anyone know the part number for the NSS? Or. if I'm wrong, what's a good source for a new switch?

I would call Silver Sport Transmissions - they are always very helpful and may even have it on hand,

Are you actually using the neutral safety switch for anything? Starter interlock? If not, just plug the switch hole.

You can do that too with one of these:

FYI, this is not a neutral safety switch but a neutral position switch.

Its purpose is to inform an ECM (or other component) that the gear shifter is in neutral. The switch is not rated to support the current that a starter would require.

It can be used as an input to a starter relay circuit.

I know this is not the original purpose of the thread, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Good info. Use of the neutral position switch should be the same as the clutch safety switch, tied to activation of the starter solenoid. And you could always use a relay.

Since I swapped to EFI, I have toyed with the idea of reinstalling the neutral switch on my T-56 and adding remote start. Probably not going to do it though.
