Just wondered how difficult/expensive it would be to convert to a T&T column from a standard column? Could I get ALL the parts from catalogs or would I be searching boneyards?
Corvette boneyards only....vette specific....differant lengths to the firewall flange from the two large support bolts....might find something else to fit, but doubt it....still would need vette hub for wheel mounting....
cost is about 2-300 bux though...high, I know....
I got super lucky, and rebuilt one I picked up for about ten bux....was in a wreck, but still solid enough, rebuilt it, and it works fine....PIA to do, but well worth it....only took a day....
mrvette: thanks for the info. Looks like I go on a crash diet and try and lose some weight in the thighs. I have my seat all the way back and I clear my gut okay, but the right thigh is a bit tight getting in and out. Guess no T&T option was for those itty bitty guys that bought Vettes back then...not for slightly overweight retired cops ;)
All steering columns from 1969 through 1976 are interchangeable. Therefore, any T&T column from 1969 through 1976 will bolt right into your Vette.
The T&T steering wheel and telescoping hardware was the same from 1969 through 1975.
The steering wheel hardware and telescope lock was different in 1976 with the "Vega" steering wheel.
However, the leather wrapped 1977 through 1982 steering wheel will bolt on to the older columns (including the 1976) as long as you have all of the attaching hardware (extension, telescope lock, hub, etc) that goes with the newer steering wheel.
