Default Aluminum Heads.

Gentleman: Happy New Year. ??? I have a 330 G. M. crate engine that I bought new in 1995. It is a flat tappet cam, which runs alright, but my second Corvette, has a roller cam & lifters, & will run circles around the 330. My thought is to install a G M. roller cam & lifters along with a set of Aluminum heads, I have an old 1988 set along with the cam. But; some of my friends are asking me if the Cast Iron Vortex heads would be a better than the old, 1988 Aluminum Corvette heads. What are some of your thoughts if you were going this route. The 1988 L98 Corvette heads are "113" castings. Lots of info on Google about them. The Vortecs will flow about 20-30 cfm more than the 113s (IIRC, 200 vs 225 cfm??) as cast on the intakes. Ported they will flow about the same.

For factory heads they are both okay but most aftermarket heads will support much more power.
