Default ?bad ignition switch cut off all power??

Could a bad ignition switch cut off all power?
Battery is good, when I turn key over nothing happens, no starter, no dash lights, headlights won’t even turn on.
It’s a ‘77

Does the horn work?

Would help if we knew what you were working on.

The Horn wasn’t hooked up from the get go. Working on a 77 with a manual transmission

Headlights not working would indicate it's something besides the ignition switch. Start with the basics: Battery cables, ground to frame, fusible links.

I checked the fusible link from the battery to the starter and it is good. Are there others I should check?

Have you checked the connector at the starter extension harness yet? ALL of the power to everything runs thru it.

I lost all power driving down the street many years ago due to a short in the dash, a speaker wire I believe it was. It blew the fusible link right next to the horn relay. Dead to the world she was....

Found the issue, bad spliced wire sending power to the alternator. Fixed the splice, got power back. Thanks everyone for the advice
