I just had to make a hard stop and the front breaks locked up like they should but the back ones did'nt do anything to help stop the car.
I also noticed that the break pedal goes all the way down??? Don't tell me my booster is gone again....:( Has anyone had this problem???
Re: Front breaks lock up, back ones don't? (Road Racer)
To test the operation of the brake booster is pretty simple. start the vehicle place your foot on the brake pedal...it should travel until it is an inch or two from the floor. Turn off the engine step on the brake pedal
the pedal should be firm (move slightly). A soft pedal is usually due to a leaking master cylinder. I agree with the above post. Check the fluid level in the master cylinder. The resivoir that is low is the culprit. Try bleeding the system and refill the master cylinder.

My fluid is full. But it looks a bit foggy. I replaced the booster and master cylinder a few months ago. I bench bled the master cylinder and bled my breaks like ten times each to clean the lines of old fluid. :(

I believe ther may be a problem with the proportioning valve. Is the brake lamp on (does it work)? If the valve is stuck in one direction (usually the result of the OTHER direction running out of fluid or developing a leak), then the failing side will not assist in braking.

Check the rubber hoses too. Detereation from the inside out causes uneven application of pressure.
Re: Front breaks lock up, back ones don't? (Road Racer)
Sounds like you didn't get all the Dot 3 fluid out before you installed the Silicone which may be the reason for the foggy appearance, but not why the pedal goes to the floor. If there are no leaks, try to rebleed the system. If you get air out, then the caliper seals are probably used up. If no ait, then check the master cylinder seals.
Re: Front breaks lock up, back ones don't? (Duke94)
I bled the breaks about ten times each. I went out for a test drive, the pedal was good for about five minutes and then went to the floor again and just front breaks again. So, I bought a new master cylinder, I bench bleed it and installed it. I bled all calipers againg about ten times. I got a nice feel on the pedal. I took car out for a test drive and in about two minutes the same thing happened again. :( Break pedal to the floor and only fronts lock up???
HELP!
