Default Front breaks lock up, back ones don't?

I just had to make a hard stop and the front breaks locked up like they should but the back ones did'nt do anything to help stop the car.
I also noticed that the break pedal goes all the way down??? Don't tell me my booster is gone again....:( Has anyone had this problem???

Did you check the fluid in the rear bowl of the master cylinder. Check the lines and calipers to see if you have a leak.

booster problems are denoted by a hard brake pedal (non power assist) not a soft pedal. wcj

To test the operation of the brake booster is pretty simple. start the vehicle place your foot on the brake pedal...it should travel until it is an inch or two from the floor. Turn off the engine step on the brake pedal
the pedal should be firm (move slightly). A soft pedal is usually due to a leaking master cylinder. I agree with the above post. Check the fluid level in the master cylinder. The resivoir that is low is the culprit. Try bleeding the system and refill the master cylinder.

My fluid is full. But it looks a bit foggy. I replaced the booster and master cylinder a few months ago. I bench bled the master cylinder and bled my breaks like ten times each to clean the lines of old fluid. :(

What kind of fluid did you use? It shouldn't look "foggy" after only a couple of months. Wrong fluid=swollen seals in master cylinder.

I believe ther may be a problem with the proportioning valve. Is the brake lamp on (does it work)? If the valve is stuck in one direction (usually the result of the OTHER direction running out of fluid or developing a leak), then the failing side will not assist in braking.

Check the rubber hoses too. Detereation from the inside out causes uneven application of pressure.

I used a good quality sythetic break fluid. Should I try to drain all the old fluid again and put in fresh DOT fluid???

Sounds like you didn't get all the Dot 3 fluid out before you installed the Silicone which may be the reason for the foggy appearance, but not why the pedal goes to the floor. If there are no leaks, try to rebleed the system. If you get air out, then the caliper seals are probably used up. If no ait, then check the master cylinder seals.

I bled the breaks about ten times each. I went out for a test drive, the pedal was good for about five minutes and then went to the floor again and just front breaks again. So, I bought a new master cylinder, I bench bleed it and installed it. I bled all calipers againg about ten times. I got a nice feel on the pedal. I took car out for a test drive and in about two minutes the same thing happened again. :( Break pedal to the floor and only fronts lock up???
HELP!

do you get a firm pedal after a while of non-driving? do you see any leaks? sounds like a hose or o-ring to me.

I would flush your system out with some el cheapo do 3 fluid and replace it with this :

Ate Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid
Perfect for high performance street and club racing. Exceeds specifications of FMVSS No. 116 DOT 4/DOT 3, SAE J1703 and ISO 4925. Suitable for all brake and clutch systems rated for DOT brake fluids. Also suitable for ABS. Mixes with brake fluids that have the same specifications. Dry boiling point is 280°C/536°F and wet boiling point is 200°C/392°F.

You can buy it from this supplier:

Sounds like the rear calipers are sucking air. Common Vette problem. Replace them.

I put in fresh Valvoline Synthetic fluid. I don't know if brand of fluid would be causing my problem. :(

I just bought both rear break calipers at autozone for $54.00 each. I'm going to install them tomorrow. I hope that cures my problem. :hat
