Default rear alignment cam bolt marking

Having reached the strut bracket in my quest to remove the dana 44 from my '80, I have now come face to face with the strut bracket. Any recommendation on the best way to mark the cam bolts. I mostly want to be sure what I'm marking won't more on me. I was thinking of just using a punch to ding in through the hole in the cam. Interesting view in the photo below. Anyway, enjoy the view. Other than me, the last folks to get this close a view were the ones bolting it together in St. Louis. Note also the little heat shield mounting screw. Not a 7/16 or 3/8 head - nope - 10 mm. I have found an assortment of metric and imperial hardware used. Believe it or not, pulling the power antenna motor I found the bold head was imperial and the nut was metric. I didn't bother finding out what the thread was.

True - I guess it doesn't have to be that close since the 15+ yr old tires should be replaced before I go out hitting 90 somewhere.

I use Sharpies. Black on natural metal. Silver on black painted surfaces. Brake cleaner takes it right off unpainted surfaces. If it's a nice painted surface I use yellow painters tape and then mark the tape. This works great for tie rods too so you can count the number of turns.

Also the '81 has metric and US threaded bolts and nuts.

Yep, found that out tonight - thought it was just the odd ball heat shield screws.

I opted for photos and a file mark. Hope it doesn't cost me at the shows
