454 swap
Just bought a 454 to swap into my 1980 L48. I'll be posting pictures and keep you updated. I'm going to put it on an engine stand first to do a little work to it before it goes in. If anyone else has done this and want to give me some tips it would be greatly appreciated. Hitting a couple swap meets in the next few months to see what I can find. Can't wait till spring

How complete of an engine is it? You may need to change the intake manifold for hood clearance. I know the vettes also had a specific oil pan to clear the power steering. The corvette also has specific pulleys and brackets for accessories.

you need all BB corvette pulleys and brackets,
to fit under the hood, they are not cheap.
if you do not have A/C you may be able to use alternate pulleys.
correct different oil pan, low rise intake only to fit under hood.

It's a complete 454 air and all. I've been thinking about this for awhile and couldn't pass up the 454 deal. I've done a little research so I kind of know what I'm getting into. I'm planning on buying a L88 hood so I can put on a high rise or maybe dual quads on it, we'll see where the budget goes. Thanks

March Performance makes a serpentine belt setup that will fit without crossmember mods.

I have the high water flow pulleys and GM Type 2 remote reservoir PS pump. Water pump is an Edelbrock aluminum short water pump and alternator is a 140 amp 12SI (electric fans, fuel pump, EFI). Just had to machine the alternator pulley a little for nut clearance since the 12SI shaft was a little too short.
Moroso makes an oil pan that fits. 20403. I originally used this one for my swap before switching to the Milodon oil pan 31187 which also fits and is a nice stepped sump design. This is what I have on my 496.
For an intake, I ran stock Tripower under the stock '75 hodd and then swapped to a custom EFI Tripower based on an Edelbrock dual quad (but the throttle bodies are a lot shorter than carbs).
