If I was being very truthful, I find it valuable to have a 'devil's advocate' in many discussions. It is helpful in distilling the truth out of a matter by forcing one to back up statements with facts. However, this certain someone did not have any interest in having a discussion. Or in little things we call "facts". Or respect for other's thoughts or opinions.
In truth, the copious volumes of time I spent on this forum simply trying to steer an honest discussion to the 'light' rather than the 'darkness' was breathtaking and could not continue. I believe the individual was cast from these halls once it was realized that many contributors could not persist in the practice. I was absolutely one of them.
I certainly enjoy my time here more now than before.

If his word was the last word and everyone just stayed 'hands off' once he got involved, the search function would reveal several truly moronic conversations and stupefying claims that would make the conclusions made by this forum...us...to be a bad joke.
Yes, I knew he was a Mechanical Engineer. Guess what...I'm a Mechanical Engineer and a licensed Professional Engineer who has both owned his own firm for 12+ years, and is currently stepping into ownership of a 20+ person firm. And I'll be the first one to say that having a Mechanical Engineering degree doesn't mean squat. I've known many folks who were lucky to finish 8th grade that could run rings around me on 'things mechanical'. And I've known folks with multiple Masters degrees to be complete morons.
My own Stepdad, who I respect as much as my own Father, holds a Master's Degree in Forestry, in Civil Engineering, AND in Mechanical Engineering and has been a GS-14 Engineer at NASA for many years...and he has an amazing shortage of common sense when it comes to the simplest of things.
Anyone who has to use the explanation "Why? I'm an Engineer, that's why..." at the end of their sentence has NOT sufficiently explained the supporting facts in the matter.
And that pretty much explains how things went so sideways.

I did not.
I hold a great deal of respect for everyone. My partners, my doctor, the guy that picks up my garbage, the guy that delivers my paper, my attorney, and the Administrative Assistant who is outside my door right now. NOBODY is uneducated. I couldn't do their jobs. And they couldn't do mine.
Mr. Too is clearly a very intelligent and very capable person. Certainly far more capable than me. He was just plain wrong sometimes. Guess what? I'm just plain wrong sometimes. The biggest difference is that I can see other perspectives and modify my opinions based on new information.
Not to digress, but when a forum member...ANY forum member...responds to a new thread from a new member asking "I just got a C3 and wanted to know what tire pressures you guys were running" with "16 psi is absolutely the right answer"...am I "barking" to retort? And am I "barking" to continue to discuss the merits of running, perhaps, 26 psi for too many reasons to list?
I got so tired of discussing it that my breathing goes shallow when I even type the words "tire pressure".
This is not the place for Trolls. I have absolutely zero use/tolerance for someone who "...had a fondness for YANKING [my] CHAINS". THIS FORUM should have have absolutely zero use/tolerance for someone who Trolls. This isn't YouTube. It's fun and all, but we're talking about serious stuff here.

The statement "...far more...educated people on this forum than him" was made by Mr. Iwasmenowhesgone. He is welcome to his opinion. His input is valued, as is yours and everyone else's. I am certainly not the comment police.
Like you, I ONLY come here with a few simple purposes in mind:
---Educate myself
---Have smarter people than me help with my problems
---Lend whatever help I can to others if I have something constructive to offer
---Help new guys with their stuff
It's all good. We're on the same page. If Mr. Too returned to this forum with an accommodating nature, I would be very happy to have his expertise and alternative opinions be shared and discussed.

Bummer. Here I thought we were having a nice little conversation. What is the difference between "barking" and "discussing"?

Unfortunately the person in question took it to such an extreme that virtually all their posts were distracting at best.
For the more seasoned folks out here, sifting fact from "Chain Yanking" wasn't hard to do-
Just annoying.
The damage occurs when naive C3 owners who are looking to us for honest information get their chains yanked (unknowingly) instead. Then thinking this information is sound end up creating more work and re-work for themselves instead.
Personally, I don't find it amusing.
If you want to yank someones chain, do it on facebook, not here.
Just my .02

Who cares what the op wants to talk to him about & wether or not the guy had one or 45 screen names?
When I see a 7 year old thread resurrected, I'm reminded of why it was important at the time to enter into those unpleasant discussions. This stuff is persistent and memorialized. That was my main point at the time, and it is my main point now.
