I really must have angered the corvette gods this time. After finally getting my '73 ready for a test drive after rebuilding the brakes I closed the passenger door and now can't get it to open Luckily I took off the door panel last time I was working on the car as I was having an issue with the power window so I don't have that to contend with as well. As far as I can tell the door is not locked but I can not engage or disengage the lock. The exterior door handle when trying to open the door it acts like it takes no resistance to push the handle down. If nether of the handles are working what can I do to get the door open?
Any help in getting the door open so I can repair the mechanism will be greatly appreciated!

If neither inside or exterior handle work, take off the door panel and put a screw driver on the part in the pic. and press. You dont need to remove the vapor barrier. You might could reach it without taking off the panel since it is right at the notch at the latch opening inside the door.

I'll give that a shot and see if I can get the door to finally open.
Thanks for all the help!

Hi Again,
#1 Is the door panel off or on?
#2 Let's see if we can get the window down first.
At the fuse box see if the PINK-Black wire is plugged into the IGN cavity.
Then with the key ON see if the window works.

1. I've got the door panel off
2. I see the wire plugged in and the driver side window operates so according to the diagram my relay is getting power. I also tried swapping the power window switches to see if that was burnt out but no luck.

On the bottom of the door is a BLACK access panel.
I've never tried it with the door closed but if you can remove that panel you will see the power window motor.
Remove the two wire plug.
Run a jumper from the battery positive and touch one of the two terminals on the motor.
One terminal sends the window UP and 12 volts to the other terminal sends the window DOWN.
The motor case is grounded to the door frame.
If that doesn't work lightly hit the motor with a plastic hammer.
So I finally got it open While removing the panel for the power window motor I figured what the heck I'd try pressing on that lever one more time except this time I used a hammer and a little brute force
Thank you Peterbuilt for all your help! Now on to stripping the door mechanism and rebuilding it.
