Second rearend rebuild
After a seal replacement I noticed a grinding noise in the rearend. It only occurs when coming to a stop and and then taking off again. Its not the normal bad clutch pack noise when turning a corner...click click click. I thought it might be the oil used after the seal replacement..but the mech said that the pack was bad.. so I had it (the rearend) rebuilt. After the rebuild it lasted about 30 miles before the noise returned.. the mech said that it had to break in... I knew I was in trouble... I demanded that they tear it apart to find the problem, they did. Now the grinding returns after about 50 miles of driving or what seems to be when the rearend heats up. I still suspect that the oil and posi oil is not right... any ideas.. the guy that did the work has been in the corvette business for awhile and supposed to be good...so I cant imagine him not putting the proper oil in.... all clutch pack parts are new...

That sux......Something had to be installed wrong for sure.....He should fix at no charge.....My car mad NO noise at all after the rebuild and I am sure yours should not either.....what kind of gears are they?/

I went from 3.55 to 3.36 ... but sure the noise is coming from the clutch pack........... but it occurs when stopping and starting, not when turning, which is weird
