With the door closed, the door glass is likely to be digging into the weather stripping instead of sealing against it. Realign the glass to seal against the weather stripping.

Does the window go all the way up with the door open?
If not then the big gear might be worn out near the end of its travel.
You will have to remove the door panel and take a closer look.

My passenger side window on my '74 did this. I just pushed the window when I hit the switch, and that fixed the problem. It would only do that when the car wasn't moving and the door was closed.

I'd also advise you to just purchase the regulator, you can purchase a tooth repair kit but they are kind of cheesy. Stay away from the imported regulators, the rollers are not the correct size and can cause you even more headaches.
