running the 383 open headers....

running the 383 open headers....
i am going to go to the track next weekend and i was thinking about unbolting the exhaust system from the header collector back.does anybody have any thoughts or experience with this?????i am thinking it might run a little faster i hope,but it will sound awesome

I run open headers all the time (with my sidepipes). I'm sure that an open exhaust will give you AT LEAST 15+++ HP...

I haven't done the open collector drags in years just because it's a PITA to R&R
It will lean you out a little on your jetting. How it will help is noise. I'm always classed into the faster brackets and I never can hear my car at the stagging lights because everyone else is uncapped. I never can hear what my car is doing and I have to keep looking down at the tach.

If it doesn't make your car faster, it will definitly sound awesome :yesnod: There was an 89 Camaro come thru town yesterday with his headers uncapped. His car sounded very mean. Very very loud like a drag car :D
