I have searched previous threads but didn't see anything that addressed my problem. I have a 79 Vette. Both brake lights Work. Both tail lights work. However, when I push the brake pedal with the tail lights lit the driver side brake light goes out. New bulb, cleaned socket. The brake light switch is maybe a month old.
Any suggestions where I can start my search?
MR,
You have a bad ground on the driver's side tail light.
Look up under the back side light mounts. Each socket will have a ground wire attached to the mounting nut. The driver's socket ground is either corroded or missing. This is a very easy fix.

Thank you gents for the help. After fooling with the thing for a while I have determined the socket is bad. The pos+ side in the socket contact goes down past where the bulb contacts it. Got a new one on the way.
