Default 1974 Corvette L82 distributor cam difference

Hi everyone, I recently was fortunate enough to end up with a 1974 Corvette with a L82 and a M21 4 speed, sometime in the passed someone switched the distributor over to a HEI unit. . I found a distributor out of a 1974 L-48 and plan on using it. The other day I was searching ebay for a cross gear and shaft to repair the tach drive and I came across a nos advance cam, gm #1851057(picture) The listing indicated that it was for a 73-74 350 L-82 Hi-Perf. There was the number 720 CCW stamped on the bottom of it. I never realized that there were different cams available. After doing a little research the only information I've been able to find says that the last 2 digits of number that is stamped represents the number of degrees the slot in it allows the mechanical advance to move. I went and checked the L-48 cam and it has 522 CCW, I also checked several other point type distributors I have and found cam numbers 514, 524, 526, 528 and 530. So the questions are, do these numbers in fact represent the total mechanical advance? Would there be any advantage in installing the correct 720 cam? Or would any of the other cams be the best. It also appears there were 2 different spring used for the weights, My guess is the lighter once were used on the L-82? The L-82 is completely stock and was just hoping to make it run and perform the way it was designed. Hopefully some one will have some thoughts on the best thing to do. As always, thanks for all the great info that's found here on the forum.

Email Lars for his tuning papers and follow them to the letter. That L-82 will run better than it ever did from the factory.
