Default water pump are they diffrent

I have been look at getting a smaller crank pulley to let me change
belts i would like to run my power steering of the lower pulley alone
on a two groove pulley. but when i look at chrome kits it
says no for corvettes or older pickups

my question really is .Is the water pump different

Corvettes use a short water pump and depending on the year have a 3/4 inch shaft.

What Stroker said, plus, if I remember right on those after market chrome pulleys, the bolt pattern was different. Even though it was labeled: fits all SBC 1955-------
I could have drilled out the chrome unit to make it fit / match the original but I read an artical about how bad the chrome units allow belts to slip, too smooth. So I returned it.

Basically there are three SBC Waterpumps:
Long
Short
Vette

On some Corvettes there was a " trapped" belt a non adjustable belt from crank to water pump. They also sold a 2 belt match set for racing. I never saw used on a truck, but I rarely worked on trucks back then. If you changed pulley getting correct belt maybe impossible.
