Im brand new to the Corvette forums and actually just purchased my first Corvette. I found a 74 C3 L82 Convertible and just hauled it back to my place. The body mounts and birdcage are all in really great shape. The entire car is stock with 34,000 miles on it from the original owner. He was a mechanic at a Corvette dealership and passed away and the car was sold to his boss who had a collection of them.
Im wondering what should I tune up on this first. It leaks a bit of antifreeze I can see the hose its coming from has a small hole in it, it looks like dry rot from sitting for so long, so I figure all new seals are going to be needed. It also drips a very small amount of oil but I can't really see where its coming from. Its a slow drip. And I've never actually seen it just the bit on the ground.
Other than that my turn signals arent working but the hazards work fine. Im thinking maybe its the switch? Im by no means a mechanical guru. Ive been the learn as I go kind of guy so hoping to learn a lot from this first C3.
Congrats on the new car. You've come to the right place. Lots of knowledge and experience here. Sounds like all new belts and hoses (along with fresh coolant and a new thermostat) would be a good place to start
First thing to do is purchase a repair manual.
Second thing is two or three garage floor drip trays (Walmart $12)
Of all the fluids:
Gasoline
Motor Oil
PS fluid
Trans fluid
Rear axle fluid
Coolant
And brake fluid, one will drip on your floor,
daily,
for years,
w/o end.
Its all part of owning a Vette.

Thank you! Im in Upstate New York, the car is from Canton OH.
Well I took it out of the barn and drove it about 5 miles and lost quite a bit of antifreeze, it looks like a lot of the hoses are seeping it near the connections. some more than others,
