Most people, after leaks in originals and wanting upgrades, move to o-ring type. That said, many who rebuild theirs use lip seals and don't have issues. I replaced all of mine with o-ring stainless sleeved replacements after 3 of the 4 originals leaked. If you drive the car, lip seals are probably fine. Mine had been sitting by the PO for 6 years.
