Default Wich body mount does what?

Hi guys!

Car is slowly comming back toghether.
I have a bit of a weird problem. I can't get my doors to close.
The car had a lot of welding done, but everything was properly braced, so I don't think the welding has anything to do with it.
The door, even when adjusted to be as high as possible, just seems too low. I can lift the door and make it to latch, but it takes quite a bit of force, so that can't be right either I think.
Could it be because body mount #1 isn't thightened jet?( my bolts are just a tad too short and no hardware store on sunday..
or is it the shimming on any of the other boymounts that will be out?

Worst case scenario I'll just enlarge the holes for the door hinges. Although it shouldn't be a problem, as the doors closed quite well before the resto, and that was with the VERY rusty birdcage.

The damage to the doors was there before I bought it.

Im here again! After painting the car and it sitting for a few months now, it gets harder to close the doors again.
Could it just need some more shims after the body mounts settled? Cant imagine the door hinges wore out by just sitting ( new pins etc in there too)

I can adjust the catch lower, but the door doesn't line up properly with the rear fenders then.

Has the car been sitting all this time on its own wheels or on jack stands or ?. If so put it on its wheels and wait a week and see what happens.

A series of pics showing just what it looks like now would help.

Also if you check each mount bolt and shims for loosness just to make sure it hasn't settled especially if your using poly mounts (might have disintegrated !)

It's been sitting between September and January on jack stands, but has been off them since ( problem did start after the jackstands)

Only solution I can think about( if it doesn't settle)is to enlarge the door hinge mounting holes so there s more adjustment over there. Not something I d really like doing as taking a pa

inted door off will probably result in tears. Dont even know If you can reach the bolts with the dash etc in place.

This is how it all looks

Going to follow along. I know this is a big issue for the convertibles but am guessing the coupes a prose to some flexing too.

Not a good idea to worry about adjusting door while car is on jack stands, Also, is the front clip on or off. Best to have the car sitting on the ground with wheels on and front clip on. In the perfect world you would like to have as much on the car getting close to it's original weight as possible. Then you can get into aliening door gaps, body shims, hood alignment etc.
