Cherry Bomb muffler length
Hey everyone
Today I deleted my two (not original) mufflers.
I want to buy and install a set of Cherry Bomb glasspacks (I know they are loud but that's what I want).
I checked the website of 'Cherrybomb' and I noticed that they have different lengths (3", 4", 5", ...).
What is the difference in sound between the longer and shorter ones?

Cherrybomb makes about 8 different types of mufflers. Which one are you referring to?

The 'glasspack'.

I can only talk about Magnaflow glass packs. I tried 18" and 22" 2.25" cores to make my hooker side pipe inserts. I liked the 22" better. The good thing about glass packs is they are cheap and whichever one you choose you can change your mind pretty easily.

When I made my sidepipe's "glasspac" type mufflers- I found where after 20" or so of muffler length- making them longer didn't made a difference as far as sound.
I think you are referring ( 3"- 4" -5" )as the diameter of the body...as 8" are like the shortest ones they make.

I would be looking at the length to fit them to the chassis. The sounld is louder with shorter lengths but the decision is mostly about fitment, not sound. Its going to be loud no matter what length you go with. Go with the longest ones you can fit in the space is my advice.

Yes they do get louder as the fiberglass packing deteriorates.

If you have your heart set on Cherry Bomb mufflers, by all means get a set. But I would suggest you get Thrush Rattlers instead. They are loud but do not have the fiberglass inside that breaks down with time. They come in a couple of sizes and lengths. Check their website. They are affordable and I think they will give you just what you are looking for. I have them on my 78 Pace Car and are very happy with them.

I have similar mufflers to cherry bombs mounted on my 71!
I couldn't find a better picture than this unfortunately.
But the car sound really nice. Throaty, no resonance and really nice sound. Not too loud but more than with stock mufflers.

Short Cherry Bombs (8 inch) are what I run on my C5 Z06. With nice SS tips. Got rid of the stupid mufflers and it sounds like a beast. Dropped weight and no more restrictive BS. Badass. In New Mexico, we do what we want with no government interference. So nice! And, it is throaty and deep and nasty!
