I spun my vette two times the other day in the rain. One time under power and one time coming off the highway: I was sawing back and forth half a dozen times before it finally got away from me and did a 360!
So, time to replace the old BFG Radial T/A's. Tirerack has the following tires in 235/60-15, any opinions?
The Firestone dood tells me that the Indy 500 and the SS20 are the same tire, just that the SS20 is going away.
I've been through probably 4 or 5 sets of Radial T/As on two different Camaros. My '79 Corvette has the Firestone SS20s and I think they're better than any of the T/As that I've had.
My early experience with my new BFG T/As (255-60R/15) has been very good. The tread pattern is different from my former as is, I would imagine, the composition of the rubber. I find them very sticky and smooth running.
My firehawks have way better wet traction than my old BF Goodrich Radial T/A "racing slicks", but I'm still not totally sold on dry traction. They're getting better...
I had Goodyear 45's in front and 55's in the rear. Can't rotate that combination. I put the 55's on the front and didn't like the clearance. Lack of, I should say. I replaced them with BFG 245/60/15 all the way around. Clearance is tight but OK. It's just "MY" opinion but nothing looks as good as the BFG's.
