No power at all

I have a 1976 corvette, the car was running great but recently would sometimes have no power at all. Now I have no power at all. The odd part is when the engine bay harness is disconnected from the firewall I have voltage at the alternator, then when I plug the engine bay harness back into the firewall I have no voltage at the alternator. If anyone has any recommendations that would be greatly appreciated.

Normally people dont disconnect the engine bay harness from the firewall to figure out this issue. is there something about the history of this car or what you have done to it that you havent mentioned?
