any suggestions on what fan I should get and type of brackets I will need to install an auxil. fan infront of the already existing clutch fan for more air flow for the car and air condition. also has anyone changed the heater blower fan to a larger size . if so what years do I need to look for for the repacements and the auxiliary. Mine is a 78.
Re: auxiliary electric fan for additional air (john V. zemba)
I personally would think twice about adding an aux fan IN FRONT of the rad.
1: Fans in a pusher confg. do not perform as well to fans in a puller confg.
2: A fan infront of the rad will restrict air flow.
3: why are you wanting to add an electric fan? "because the car is overheating"..if so then look into why the vickle is overheating (bad rad, waterpump, hoses, timing, jetting ect.). Avoid using a band-aide to cover up the real problem.
AS for my self I live in a very hot climate, with a modified moter. So i knew that the factory fan would not cut it. In turn I went with all electric in a puller confg.
I rember reading about a person using a hearer blower fan from a 92(I think) vette in there C3. slight mods needed but not to much.
cheers

Re: auxiliary electric fan for additional air (71'AirStrike)
I have a small set of dual 1850cfm puller electric fans between the rad. and the clutch fan I was going to install two of these dual setups on my 76 horizontally side by side w/out the clutch fan, but found that one setup in front of my clutch fan worked better. Keeps me at 195º on a 105º day in dead stop traffic.
Re: auxiliary electric fan for additional air (71'AirStrike)
I meant between the clutch fan and radiator, I ran across it in a article not for the car overheating but for the air conditioner I have burn't 3 compressors up in homecomings and parades because not enough air flow thru the condenser while going so slow
Re: auxiliary electric fan for additional air (john V. zemba)
Just for the A/C, that'll work. Hook the relay up to the clutch wiring and your set. The blower yuo need is out of the C-4's. it is deeper and flows more air, but you need to make a 1/2 inch spacer.
