Which switch are you talking about?
The fan speed switch, AC control head vacuum switch. AC clutch cycling switch?
Craig
If it's the control head vacuum switch it's best to pull the gauge panel (six screws) to be able to get to it. You could pull the transmission tunnel side panel and try to change it also. More of a hassle though.

all i know is the fan doesnt blow when i set to high or any position the levers to set to max air does nothing, i tried checking the fuse box the original book that came with car says in glove box behind where marked fuse box well says nothing in the glove compartment all the glove box as is things for cassettes i guess you have to pull the glove box off . these manuals i have bought for other cars most of them worthless dont show you how to repair or remove. all i know i bought a 1982 c3 corvette heater/ac air control switch looks like it as everything in it face plate the slide controls and the fan hi to low got it off ebay $108 but cant find anything on computer to show me how to get it out. have know idea what the other stuff your talking about like control head vacum switch i guess your talking about all the gauges like oil pressure , gas , temp, ect
[QUOTE=Big2Bird;1597131807]I would start with buying a copy of the GM shop manual for your car.[/QUOT
thanks bought repair manual they on the most part dont show how to repair and the pictures are so dark you cant see anything mostly worthless i found to be for $20 and more
X2 There is a ton of good information in the GM service manual. You can find them on eBay or at Helms.com.
thanks but i find most of these books worthless and pay to much and really dont tell you how to repair and most of the time pictures so dark you cant tell what your looking at

The AIM is a must have manual.
I can get a photo to you possibly if you pm me your email address.
I have an '81 which is basically the same control head.

OK, but it is a 82 CFI motor. So, unless you know a lot about that system, it would be wise to get a GM manual for a 36 year old car, jus sayin'.
Do not waste your money on the other manuals like Chilton etc... The 82 corvette assembly manual (AIM) is another excellent manual to have for assembly etc...
The head control unit is the one with the hot/cold lever, heat/AC etc... It has a vacuum rotating switch which is pretty much a POS IMO, bad design for what it does. The blower switch is the single switch that controls the fan for cooling/AC high to low on the left side on the console panel. Changing either one of those switches IMO is a PITA, I've done it several times on my 82 over the years.
It could also be the fan/blower is dead as well which again is a PITA to replace, it's buried down on the passengers side by fender and firewall. OR you could luck out and it's only the blower high side relay mounted on the firewall on passengers side. Easy to check and replace as well.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
