Ok I have only had my 82 Cross Fire for a month or so now and still getting in tune with the expected sounds from the engine. Had the the air cleaner off about a week ago and noticed top end ticking. So of course I was freaked out and now dedicated to find out what the hell this was as it was driving me crazy, it did not quite sound like a typical top end tick that I have heard before. After continuing to listen at different locations around the car and using the screw driver on the ear trick it really seems like it is coming from the Fuel Injectors.

Is this possible?
I have the same noise in my 82. Has done it since I got it 15 years and about 40000 miles ago. Caused concern when I first got it but the injectors are still going strong so I call it normal and drive it.

No problem and is normal, just injector noise as they pulse. Drive it and have fun.
The throttle body injectors do tick when they are pulsing the fuel. Pretty much a normal noise. I remember when these cars were new and they ticked from the beginning.
