Default EFI conversion Distributor conversion gurus, pls chim in

According to the install instructions on the Edelbrock EFI system, I should be able to convert my MSD 8361 (carb dist) with the provided kit, and have the correct sensor, square-wave signal etc, for this distributor to function properly with the provided computer. Anyone have experience with this set-up?

Small cap HEI. Designed by GM for EFI use. Zillions out there. 60 bucks new and 20 bucks OEM used. Unless you want to pay 300 for the DUI version...

Thanks for your response. I’m hoping to get this accomplished with parts I’ve already purchased! I think the process is common for anyone that converts from carb to EFI, just not sure about the MSD 8361 distributor. The MSD tech support guy was no help at all. I suspect he’s tired of answering stupid questions

Are you asking about locking out the distributor?

If so, then I got a "phasable" rotor for my MSD 8572 and "locked out" the distributor when I installed my EZ-EFI 2.0 (which now controls timing). You may want to call and ask if this will work on your MSD-8361.

I don’t know that the 8361 won’t work. I haven’t torn it apart yet. The instructions are straight forward, especially the locking out of the vacuum advance, that looks like a no brainer. The instructions say the conversion kit will work on “the old distributor”. They just don’t explain what style(s) of old distributor they are referring to. Like I said before, if it’ll work with parts I’ve already purchased, (actually inherited) that would be ideal. At the risk of showing my ignorance on the subject, this EFI system comes complete, including an ignition amplifier. So I should not have to get an HEI style distributor. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Thx,
Ed

Please tell us the model and/or part number your EFI system --- so we know what we're discussing.

It’s the Weber/Edelbrock Pro-Flo Multi-point Electronic Fuel Injection system. Model no. 35001 (polished aluminum) hence the final 1 in the part number. It was purchased in 2001/2002, so I imagine it’s an early generation
