1981 corvette idling issue
Alright so I bought this car from a guy I knew through a mutual friend. It had been sitting for 16 years and all because of a brake booster. So I get the car and have my shop take care of it for me. I got the brakes and everything done, new fuel pump, complete tank and line clean, radiator flush, and oil change. I get it back realize the headlights aren't work so I take it back and there is a vacuum leak around the carb so I got the mounting gasket replaced and some new vacuum lines which I get it fixed enough to not worry about them getting stuck going up or down. It had been in the shop for roughly a month and I finally get it back. Drives amazing and has had no issues. Till i start noticing its idling differently. I was told by a buddy that it sounds like it was running lean. I continued to drive it because I needed it. So fast forward a week and a half and I was driving home. No issues till I turned on to my street and started to slow down. The RPMs stayed high like my choke was engaged and then I put it in park and the RPMs skyrocket. Like up to 4000. I immediately shut the car off and havent had time to look into it all that much. I know i should have the carb rebuilt so I'm going to get that done. But is there anything I can check before I jump to getting the carb rebuilt? I heard it could just be the accelerator pump diaphragm. Any opinions would be great. I am not really tech savvy when it comes to this car yet. I had an 84 before this but this car is way different obviously. THANK YOU!!!

Maybe post another one without the air cleaner.
As for the high idle rpm, it doesnt mean the carb needs a rebuild, could be something very simple.
My 81 did this, it was one of the plates in the carb had caught in an open position so when i was at idle it was as though i still had my foot on the gas. May pay to look at this too.
