Because one heater hose is 3/4 and the other is 5/8 you need an adaptor to attach both ends of the hoses together and hide it down by the firewall. That will by-pass the core.
Try dormanproducts.com Its a black plastic unit with both size nipples on the end. You can order it at your Auto-Value store in your Yooper land town.

Even when you don't need a heater core the water valve does not shut off all the way. Always some hot coolant raising interior temps. This should be done on virtually every vette but maybe Priyas...
I put a shut off valve on mine. It shut the water off flowing through the core. The only reason that I did this, Is because it gets too hot in the car.
i looped the hose by getting a fitting to make both the mani and the pump hose size the same.
water circulates and becomes a bypass of the thermostat.
i figured it is best for the pump and getting water flowing thru the heads
for more even temp.

Interesting - I think I might do this. Which hose did you install the shut-off into, or doesn't it matter since it's a loop? Hose coming out of the pump?
See below. Red shutoff valve on one hose on left. Other one is below the large covering on a/c hose. You can just barely see it, but it is there. Turn off during all but coldest of days in Houston, which is about 1 or 2 days a year.

[QUOTE=Street Rat;1597231350]I ended up putting these valves in my heater hoses. It gets about 100 degrees here during the Summer. No need for a stinking heater.
Interesting photo there Larry 82. Either your Alternator is clocked 180* off or mine is. The dual wire white plastic terminal clip is towards the inner fender on mine. And the black wire boot is on the bottom of my ALT.

This is my second replacement in 250K miles. First one was like this one before I took it apart and reclocked it. Not hard to do, but not exactly easy either. Getting the bushings back in properly. This one was not re-clocked. Connectors just long enough to reach and fit. Done by one of the very better shops in the area. They do things right or don't do it at all. Good observation.
