Need advice for a 12 volt power source on the work bench.
I'd like to be able to test some parts before I install them to ensure function etc. What's out there for a convenient 120V AC to 12V DC powersource?

I once knew a guy who used a variable speed controller from an electric train set to power a car stereo in his garage. He used a multi-meter to adjust the throttle to 12v.

Those portable 12 volt jump starter/power packs are perfect for that kind of thing

Battery chargers are horrible 12v power supplies!! Extreme amounts of electrical noise are produced by them. They are also not designed to act as power supplies. You are much better off with something like this, which is what I have in my garage, and love it:

Thanks for the recommendation! It's been added to my wish list! I've got some air tools, sockets and now a charger on my wish list. I'll be placing an order next week.

74 - did you sketch that speedster vette, great job. I would love to put a deck lid on my vert like your sketch. Have you started it yet?
