68 corvette-replace vacuum with electric?
i cant find the leak in my vacuum that controls the headlights and winshield wipers. My mechanic says to just replace it with electric. Should I? And how much should it cost?

My 68 headlights hadn’t worked for many years and I was able to get them working again. I’d say that it would cost less to replace vacuum lines, actuators and the one relay for much less than a conversion kit to electric. There are a lot of threads that relate to repair of these systems and lots of information available to assist you. Willcox Corvette is a great resource for info and has detailed diagrams that show how everything should be put together. If you haven’t done so, get a copy of the AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) for your 68.

First place to start is replacing the vacuum lines. They come in kit form with a diagram. After that you can chase down any components that have failed if any. You should have a vacuum guage for trouble shooting, it also comes in handy for carb adjustments. T
