I have 70 Coupe. Pulling out the seats and insulation to update. What are those small copper(?) metal tubes running toward the back of the car? One is broken in two. Optics?

Hi Ron,

i am pretty sure that you are looking at a vacuum line serving the actuator
operating the astro vent system under the rear deck. A quite interesting c3
feature controlling the fresh air supply in relation with heater/AC control.

Yep, so it seems. This is my first Vette. Amazing. I seem to learn something new and innovative about it every time I spend some time with it. I never heard of Astro ventilation. Now I know. Thanks!

Should say "Astro Ventilation" on the side windows if original. (Even if you don't have the system)

I'm wondering about when you say tubes? Is there more than one?

For the Non-A/C there should be one metal tube, goes along the driveshaft hump on the passenger side, up over the hump where it runs into the rear divider behind the seats and continues across to the drivers side and then up the b-pillar as a rubber hose.

A/C cars didn't have that rear vent part as far as I know and the verts were on the passenger side?

I will look again. I know that the one I saw is broken in two. Where did you get your copper tubing from? Thanks much!

If the copper tubing is broken just clean up the tubing at the break and join it with a piece of vacuum hose. That is what is connected to both ends of the tubing anyway so a piece in the middle isn't going to hurt.

The fiber optic line runs along side the driver-side to the rear cabin along with the taillight harness.
