Okay...maybe my values are out of whack with current standards, but I can't believe ANYONE would want Prince's song "Little Red Corvette" as a banner ad for their product. Yet I am seeing billboards plastered with that
song's title and a picture of a C5 Vette all over the place. And they're put up by apple pie loving GM!!! With the other Corvette songs available and new ones certainly able to be written by current artists, why go with one that has lyrics you wouldn't want to explain to your kids?
I did a search today to find out what Prince could possibly know about our favorite vehicle. I found the complete lyrics posted at about a hundred websites. Seems Prince knows ZERO about Corvettes and a lot about sex. I was hoping for someone like the Beach Boys who would talk about fuel injection, power shifts, riding the clutch, and positraction. What I got I can't even post examples of. It's a shame GM didn't pick Shut Down over that twit's song. To me his song tarnishes the image I have of Corvettes leading the pack. :U
Re: Little Red Corvette..garbage ('79ProwlerOrange)
LOL...while it's still here...I don't have much opinion about Prince either way. I just don't like the idea of the "All-American Car" being advertised with that prevert's song.

If you are talking about the "artist" currently known as the "artist" previously know as prince - I'm with you - I never much cared for his music -not what I call rock and roll.
If I had to guess - I'd say Chevy is going for the 50-year olds with the 60's Beach Boys/409 - us 40+ guys with American Pie and Crocodile Rock straight out of the 70's - and can't forget all those 30-somethings who listened to Prince back in the "rocking"(?) '80's
Do you guys realize that artists capitalize on all this drama. For all we know Prince is a 41 year old virgin and his Manager created this image becuase it SELLS I really think it's all hype. Take a look at that freak of nature Marilyn Manson. He has a Masters Degree and wears business attire. but when he does a concert or promo he's dressed like a transvestite or worse. It's all business, nothing but $$$$. Who really knows what's up with Prince, personally I don't care for his music either but understand it's all about reaching the younger generation for future car sales.

I saw a talk show (dont remember which) that had Marilyn Manson on it. I was amazed at how well spoken and erudite he could be - as well as intelligent (seemingly so anyway).

what a surprise
Saw the same plus the MAXUM article on him.
