Headers On A 1982
Up front I have ruled out registering the car as a farm implement, moving out of state (at least for a while), getting an Antarctica mailing address, or buying another one that's old enough that nobody cares. ;)

The part # for the ones without the airtubes is 68300, the ones w/ the tubes are listed under them (probably 68301). These are uncoated, coated ones will have a different part#.
Check out their site http://www.hedman.com

I think I will ask Hedman direct just in case this info is rong.
Part# 68301 is with the air tubes. 68301-6 is the HTC coated version. Part# 21107 (02 bung installed in the driver's side collector). Part# 21130, is the heat riser adapter for the EFE.

Headman headers 68301 does have AIR tubes.
BUT -- it is NOT CARB APPROVED !! It has the hookups, but Headman has not gotten CARB approval for them.
By the way, the termal coated versions are 68301-6 - they run $460.00 and I have a set on order -- 2/4 weeks from Jegs.

Didn't the 82 have the same exhaust that was on the 84 C-4? Sort of a tubular version of the old ramshorn manifolds, but flowing a lot better, going into a 3" collector? You might try posting this question over in the C-4 forum, there are probably plenty of people with headers on their C-4s.

I have looked at all feasible options: 1982 shorties, C4 stock and aftermarket exhaust, Sanderson Headers, Headman, Hooker.
I have been there and done that !!
There are no CARB approved aftermarket exhaust manifolds, shorty headers or full length headers. The Sanderson's look better but still dump to a 2 1/2" exit.
The C4 stock manifolds all dump to a 2 1/4 or 2 1/2" exit, same as what you have now.
The Hooker headers that have AIR pipes and thermal coating cost $705. The Headman's are about $460.
It sucks, but those are the options.
Maybe that farm implement idea is not so bad. I wonder
what my quarter mile time will be pulling a plow? :D

I love the bribery sign. Who better than the state to know bribery and felonys?
:D

:D
And don't get me wrong. I have nothing against smog laws, every state should have them. I have traveled to states that don't and the cars smell horribly out of tune.
Anyway, I am against laws / standards that make no sense. Take this example. Car "A", a 1980 Corvette. There are probably only about 100 car "A"'s in the entire state, of which, only about 75% are daily drivers. The "A" cars come in every year to have the emissions tested. They roller test them and idle test them with sniffers, then look for cats and all the other emissions parts. Got to make sure you still have your 22 - 23 old parts still there. And they have to be there, even if they don't work. And even if you pass the tailpipe sniffer test, and your EGR valve is not there -- you don't pass. Never mind the fact that your not polluting, you are not NCRS correct !!!!
Car "B", my wife's 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup, bought in July 1999. "B" cars, and all others that are 2000 models do not come in for emissions checks until 2005. There are probably at least 1500 2000 Dodge Dakotas on the street and about 95% are daily drivers. If the "B" vehicles had an emissions problem, it would not be caught until after about 1450 "B"'s had been driving for about 5 years, every day. Talk about pollution.
These are the restrictions and standards I have a problem with. Check the "B" cars, as there are more of them on the road. Check the "A" cars, but just make sure they pass the tailpipe test, don't check for ridiculous out of date parts. I "legally" can't upgrade my "A" car to fuel injection!! An "A" car with F.I. would pollute less and use less fuel. But don't you dare change the parts on that "A" car or they won't pass you.
SUCKS !!

Thats why I have a E car...Exempt :smash:
