Are the side panels on the shifter console for L48 supposed to be vinyl or carpet. Mine are carpet on some type of rigid board. It looks good but at the front on each side if you look close, there seems to be something missing.
Should be vinyl (looks like thin leather) and the same color as your interior code. Check corvette Central, Ecklers, Mid America cataalogs and they show pictures so you can get an idea. May not be the same color as yours in the sales pictures but they have some examples there. Look on you drivers door and there should be information there to give you the color code for your interior as well as the exterior paint code then you can match with the color code supplied in the catalogs and get the right ones if you want.
Bill :chevy
The 77 got a new console, a preview of the new interior of 78. The sides are carpet. 76 and earlier use the solid plastic/vinyl.
Ooops, I stand corrected. Just looked at Zip site. The 76 and earlier are a one piece console. The 77 has seperate side panels that are vinyl. On 78 and later the seperate side panels are carpeted. So it looks as if someone switched yours out somewhere in the past.
Thanks. I like the carpet, but like I said it does not look right in the very front part of the console on the sides. Like there is a piece missing. Got a copy of mid america from previous owner. Will check it out. Thanks again.
