Fine tuning my clutch adjustment - why is the C3 clutch return spring design so backwards compared to all other GM cars? With the spring attached to the pedal rod part of the zbar, and hooked to the firewall, ALL the slop from each connection has to be "taken up" as you depress the clutch pedal. Every other Camaro or GTO I've had, the heavy return spring hooks to the fork tip, pulling forward and attached to somewhere on the frame. That way, all the slop is ALREADY taken up. Yes my clutch works fine but it would be greatly improved if the spring is modified to work like the others.

no, pulling forward on the arm would pull the bearing off the clutch fingers. I had a 69 GTO and the engine sat so far forward that the clutch arm was way up by my feet. The Adjustment was made between the z arm and the clutch fork. The linkage seemed much shorter than the 68 vette I have. I remember because the tab on the frame broke off in traffic in downtown Atalnta Georgia. Luckily I was in front of a muffler shop and they welded it back on.

The spring from the z-bar to the firewall is for return. There is another lighter spring from the fork to the lower part of the z-bar as an anti rattle spring.
Here's the problem with high clutch bite in a nutshell (and man do I wish there was a way to engage the clutch nearer to floor):
We have more control engaging the clutch when our leg is nearly straight. Trying to engage a clutch at 1/2 or 3/4 height means your knee is really bent and the clutch is pushing against your knee making a smooth engagement more difficult. Think about doing squats with weights. Going part way down and trying to straighten is easier than trying to straighten with bent knees, plus the travel is greater.
So nobody knows of an adjustment? Sliding my seat back means I have less control of the throttle.
