Greeting, to start my car is getting fussy. I have to turn the wheel slightly left or right, after the clutch pedal is held on the floor, to crank the motor. If I don’t turn the wheel, the starter won’t engage. Problem in the steering column or the “lock out” switch. I haven’t had success at accessing the switch yet, probably have to remove the driver’s seat...
The key turns fully. I can hold the key in the start position, clutch predal to the floor and nothing happens- till I turn the steering wheel slightly. This has gotten fairly consistent over the last week or so.
I think I'd check the switch down on the column first since it's ever so slightly easier to get at
There is an adjustment procedure for the switch, yours might be just slightly out
The adjustment is really just sliding the switch on it's slotted screw holes away from the steering wheel a little but read through the paper.
I'm trying to think if you can test this somehow without taking anything apart but I don't think there's anyway to get at that rod on top of the column..
Does it matter what position the tilt is in when you turn the key?
