Default 1975 Corvette Auto to Stick - Super T10 Build

Hey Guys,

Thought this video might be of interest here. It's a little long. Eismann's Corvette Center does an auto to stick conversion and I build them a new Super T10

Thanks,
Paul

Paul
As usual a very in depth video. I have used your kits and have your book/tape, both are excellent and have referred you to many I deal with. I like these new cases, are they based on the Muncie super case as well?

I have not used a seal bearing in my trans rebuilds, what is your opinion on the sealed vs oil lubed open bearing? Is there an iron midplate for these cases?

Did you have to use an adjustable ball stud with that CF clutch, as we had to do with the earlier models?

Thanks
Gary

PS- I really like that 75, looks to be in very nice shape and I couldn't tell if I heard what was like a "rock crusher" sound out of it?

Paul,

Great video. I used your "how to disassemble a Super T 10" video when I did my own Auto to Manual switch in my 75. These videos are a fantastic research for people like me who have never done this before but love the challenge of doing it themselves. Thanks for putting these together.

Every part is new from Richmond gear. The cases have all been recast using more advanced processes. The tail houisng is a beautiful upgraded die cast piece. Die casting is very expensive and it yields uniform castings , lighter and stronger parts. Compared to the new Muncie stuff, the castings are superior in quality. Almost zero inclusions, no core shifting and better machining. However the new Muncies because of the base design will still be stronger than the ST10. There is no adjustable fork pivot.

People always freak out about sealed bearings. Oil still gets in them and most don't realize sealed bearings were used in the ST10 Corvette GM applications in the 4+3 years. None had any main bearing failures. (overdrive bearing failures yes) Watch my Youtube video on bearings to get a better understanding.

All my endurance race transmissions have run sealed bearings for years with no issues. You should at least be running shielded bearings to keep contaminants out of the bearings which is the major cause of failure

Thanks for watching...Paul
