Default O.T. Rant

So, with the new improved servers for corvettforum, wonder if we will now have spellcheck available for our posts... :jester

I don't think the update was done? Was it? I think they're testing all week and will do the switch next weekend.

About a year ago we had the spellcheck option, although it never worked for me. I just got an error message. A while later the spell check disappeared.

I'd be happy if the site were faster or the messages loaded faster.
The ads come up immediately but then I sit and look at an empty screen waiting for the messages to appear.
Maybe it's because of the many large pictures in the signatures.
It just seems odd that the advertising loads up quickly but the messages don't.
Pretty convenient for the advertisers I guess, because you have nothing to look at except their ads.
Just my 2 cents.............

You can turn off the sigs and images in user options in your profile, if you'd rather not wait for them to load. I had mine set up that way, but I do like seeing everybody's nice looking cars, so I decided it was worth the wait.

I know what you mean, though. Cable at work, dial-up at home, and it does take a long time for some topics to load, especially on the dial-up. I also have found that IE5.X loads more quickly than Netscape on the cable. A pity, because I prefer Netscape's layout, but that's the way it goes.

The new servers won't have spell check. Or any @corvetteforum email address's yet....
They will have "auto picture resizing" so that all pics will show up as 800 X 600...

This includes sigs
I see them testing in a couple of the little used sections already. so the switch should come sometime this week or weekend. :D

question about the upgrade, maybe somebody knows. troy is saying everything is going to be faster but since i'm still using dial-up, is it just going to get slower for me? i mean, seems like alot of other sites that get bigger, faster servers end up putting in some kind of animation that takes me five minutes to download. not that i don't like improvement but if i have to choose time or wizz-bang looks, i'll take the time.
