Default Rebuilding 1977 wiper switch

I took out the wiper switch assembly last year because the metal casting broke, and put in a 1978 dimmer pivot in its place. I got a piece made to replace the casting, and now I'm trying to reassemble it. When I put the black connector where it's supposed to go, the turn signal lever won't rotate at all. I feel like there's supposed to be something that goes on top of that triangle shaped plunger to complete the circuit but I can't find any information on how this thing works. Does anyone know how this works?

I could be wrong, but shouldn't both sides of the brass contact spring bar be pressed into the back of black connector?

Is this what you mean? If so, I know that’s where it goes, I’m just trying to figure out how it works internally

Here is where the brass contacts I feel should be in the black connector, not down around the actual part of the mechanical side of the switch. See where the rectangular tip pivots this will press against the contact inside of black connector Lt.Blue & Black/White stripe wire contacts are.

As you can see on my photo, the area where the triangular shaped tip fits is the same shape of the actual brass contacts in the connector. When you rotate the switch the tip just presses against the spring contact and makes contact (inside contacts of the black connector), your first photo.

Ok I see what you're saying now. Do you know if those brass contacts are attached to anything in there, or if they're a separate piece? I assume it's supposed to be attached to the ground contact not visible in the photo, on that protruding part of the connector.
