Depends on how big the amp is? Coupe or Vert?, where are your rear speakers? or are you running an amp for just fronts / kickers?
People have put them in the jack compartment, under the passenger seat (must be pretty thin) on the back wall and hanging from the removable rear window carrier (must be pretty light)
Mine is mounted between two 6x9 boxes in the rear and the wiring goes under the center storage compartment and out of the rear bulkhead on the passenger side of the console, along the floor and up behind the passenger quarter trim over the wheelwell and then down in behind the speakers

In my '79 I have one in the passenger side storage compartment behind the seat (under the removable cardboard tray) and another in front of the battery in the compartment behind the driver's seat. Not sure how the space in a '68 compares to the '79.
