I figured it out. Seems the distributor I just bought has a sticky mechanical advance. Even with the heavy springs on it doesn't completely retract to its start position.
The speed shop I'm working with said that the MSD's seem to work best using one silver and one blue spring on the mechancial advance.
But that is for my BB, not sure what you are running.
Couldnt get any of those combos to givea decent curve finally gave in and took it to an old timer with a Sun machine.
Arent blue the weakest springs or was it silver?

I think silver is the weakest, at least I think that's what they told me.
They said to double check the setup instructions included in the box.
Here are the MSD spring values. I just happen to have my distributor instruction right next to my computer:
Heavy Silver
Light Blue
Light Silver
According to the instructions here are the possible curves:
2 heavy silver - slowest
1 heavy silver 1 light blue - next slowest
1 heavy silver 1 light silver - a little faster than above
2 light blues - getting a little faster
1 light silver 1 light blue - faster
2 light silver - fastest
Also the MSD stop bushing size and amount of advance they give:
Red - Smallest - 28 degree
Silver - 25 degree
Blue - 21 degree
Black - Largest - 18 degree
Hope this helps. If needed I can scan and post the curve charts for each combo. Just let me know.
