I had to work yesterday (visit a supplier who's behind), so I chose to take the Vette to cheer myself up. During a spirited 2-3 shift, I got a fair amount of rubber, so I decided to try for the same on the 3-4 shift....It got rubber in 4th as well....Temp's were low fifty's, so the engine was making good power and the tires were cold. No wonder my 60 ft times suck.
I can get rubber in second, but thats it. Not bad for an L48 (bone stock).
I will someday be able to light up the tires in 4th, at least I hope to. That must be a ton of fun and really cool to see from behind the car !

235/60/15 (also have f70x15's, but they're not on the car at the moment). Don't know engine HP, but I dyno'd 29x at 4800 at the wheels and 340 lbFt. @ the wheels. 300 tq. from 2500-5000! :chevy Guess 350 hp, 400 tq @ crank (net).

235's are not too wide... Especially if your tire pressure is above 30 psi - it's very easy to spin the tires.. Go with 275/60's on the rear and you won't even spin them between 2nd and 3rd...
I did that last June shifting to 2nd....Second trip to the track after new engine and 3.70 gears, on the F70 x 15's. First pass of the day.
I get a nice chirp into fourth, no huge amount of smoke/spin. This was shifting at about 3500 (close to peak torque).

Re: Rubber in fourth!!! (dman535)
This is what happens when you get rubber in high gears.
Make it go away !!
I don't want to see picutes like that! I am worried enough that the car is 23 years old, I don't like to think about things going "snap" as it's going down the 1/4 mile.
I can do it more easily If I'm shifting at full throttle in the midrange then I can when I run the tach all the way up ( I can still sometimes). I think a really sticky clutch helps out a lot in doing this.
